I managed to get all my WIP knitting finished before the new year. This year I'd like to learn to dye wool and spin my own yarn. I have a quilt I've been puttering away at for ages I'd like to get it finished. I intend to make my first pair of socks this year too. I'm aspiring to work through my exsisting yarn and fabric stash, but we'll see how that goes. Any crafty "resolutions" for anyone else?

I'll join since I'm learning to crochet. I plan to make a cape and hat for my girls for the Spring season. Right now I'm almost done with my practice swatch, 3 lines of each stitch.
I am aiming to sew a doll or paint wooden people/animals or build a doll house/kitchen.. Inspired by Jessica and Mucki's wooden people, Erins doll, Stephani's castle, Heathers doll house and Sams play kitchen. I really wan to do one of these that will best fit a 2 year old girl. Problem is that I'm totally clueless on either of em.. Btw, are these considered crafts too? |

I am starting off the year with lots of craftiness and hope I can keep it up. I joined the HPKCHC on ravelry with Beth and Meghan and I am having a blast! I will post pics of some of my projects after the baby shower this weekend. Don't want to give anything away. ; ) I have also knit 7 fish-shaped washcloths in addition to the baby gifts. I have plans for a few more small projects this month and finishing some things that have been WIPs for an embarrassingly long time.

This year I'd like to work from my yarn stash a bit more and do some charity crafting. It's hard to volunteer around town with a toddler in tow so I'm going to make some time to crochet for those less fortunate. KnitASquare gathers knit and crochet blanket squares and puts them together to distribute to AIDS orphans in South Africa. I'm hoping to crochet a few each month to send. I already learned how to crochet since Jan 1 and I'm working on my second square.
I'm also knitting a Catkin for myself in red and gray. Next up are longies with the yarn from the GS coop. |

I actually had one thing I was setting out to do each month but so far I haven't gotten to start anything due to funds but I plan a few things this year like the wooden princesses and boyville eventually and I would love to learn to crochet or knit. I really want to make a newsboy cap with matching fingerless gloves and scarf for myself.

Hi all! My resolution is to start sewing again this year. My machine has been sadly neglected since I learned to knit, but there are still things I'd like to make that require sewing. I also really need some kind of crafting space, and I don't have anyplace to set up said machine except the dining room table. So if I had room, then that would make the actual sewing easier
![]() As for knitting, I can't believe I only have one project OTN. I have a bunch of things on my list (as usual), but here's the short list: - finish Z's hoodie - knit DH a replacement hat for the one I made for his bday that he lost in less than 24 hrs :( - hat for me - mittens for the boys - CO my storyteller hoodie

Awesome, thanks Bekah!
What yarn is it? Maybe you can find more? I think I'll have enough of what I'm planning to use (3IG wexford, I've had it forever waiting for the right project), but I still need to check gauge before I get started. |

This year I'd like to spend more time knitting and spinning and less time on the computer. I got seriously distracted with the computer and DH's job issues and feel I got nothing done in the last few months. :(
I have an ambitious year planned. DH read in agricultural reports that wool will be going up another 25-50%, and he told me since I knit everyone sweaters every year I had best go ahead and shop for them instead of waiting and paying more. I have 7 sweater lots OTW along with quite a bit of roving to dye and spin into smaller projects like hats, mittens, and leg warmers. I couldn't turn down the enable, but I gulped when both WEBS and KP had 7 lb boxes for me. LOL So far I have been working on organizing and consolidating the stash that's taking up too much room. I'm using our FoodSaver to vacuum pack anything that won't be used soon (read…almost everything), and I've made it through the lace weight and most of the sock weight. I was hoping to be finished with the sock weight in preparation for all the DK and worsted wool that will be here this weekend, but that's not going to happen. DH is building wall mounted cubbies for my yarn that will tie into my computer armoire and the girls' new desks he built and I decorated. It's hard to describe but I'll post a pic once it's finished. I NEED to sew this year. I have a ton of fabric and patterns for the girls, but I have had difficulty doing the cutting since I had Gabriel. My back has been really weak and the bending over is just too much. DH is supposed to be building a combination dining table/craft table contraption that will be higher and a bit easier to deal with. Last but not least, after this sweater planning episode, I hope to knit at least 90% from stash this year so we can save up to move to North Dakota. DH is working on land rigs up there and loves it, and we love the thought of having him on a 14/14 schedule with him home every night. It cracks DH up that I have already found out that the town we are moving to has a fantastic LYS. Yeah, I'm a busy girl this year...

Good to "see" you, too! I've missed you ladies but keep forgetting to check the Pin.
I have 3 out of 4 skeins of the She Is Love plied and finished. Two are DK, and the last 2 are/will be worsted. I spun them for specific cowl/mitt patterns but I lost the patterns. Duh! ![]() This is an 80/20 merino/silk that I plan on plying and knitting an http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-orchid-thief-shawlette. Right now the singles are about 40 wpi. ![]() So far I love spinning because you can spin anything into anything, and the yarn isn't as prone to pooling when dyed as roving. It's so much fun. As far as the move, I'm terrified of the snow. Silly, I know, but I'm from down South where there's snow every 7 years or so. LOL

Considering I don't have a LYS now, this is fantastic news. It even handles fiber and wheels. Poor DH says he's gonna go broke with a yarn store in town.

This year I plan on actually learning to make tassels and pom poms-each year I think 'that looks cute-I will try that next' and never do. Why is that? Anyway 2012=year of the tassles and pom poms (for knitted projects that is)
I have a few scarves that I promised people that I would like to finish-two to be exact and a third one for myself. I lost my Alpaca boucle scarf I knit myself (it was my first completed project)-5 skeins of the most beautiful yarn-GONE! So I bought less beautiful yarn and less of it-but a scarf it will make.
Lastly, I have been wanting to finish a lace project I started a few years ago that has been sitting in a project bag-I set it down and forgot where I was in the pattern and have been too lazy to figure it out or sadly start over-but SOMETHING needs to happen with it and 4 years later it isn't doing it on it's own. (GASP I know those knitting gnomes aren't doing their job)
Oh, oh I wrote it down...that's the first step right?

So I am totally in a knitting funk
I think it's that I've been so busy that my only knitting time is after the boys go to bed.. and at that point I'm so exhausted (D is still up a ton at night) that I just can't seem to pick up a project. Can you guys give me some encouragement? I think I need to CO a small project and get some instant gratification...

Sorry that I am just seeing this. ((hugs)) Christina. You can do it. Definitely something small that will make you smile could help. I go through times where I either have no time or desire to knit too. A little instant gratification helps. Have you seen this pattern by Carina Spencer? It is a super quick knit, especially if you make the worsted version. Quick, easy and pretty. I made 2 of them in just a couple of days. I think I may be making a third soon too. Or her Dovetail Cowl is also pretty and quick and easy. And either could be made with a single skein of C220 (well, the small cowl anyway). I hope you have already found something that speaks to you that you have made and are back to happily knitting. |
