Okay mamas. I need help
I am looking at the Leappad for my DD and have found it on Kmart's site as well as Amazon. Well, the thing that I need help with is figuring out why it's $99 at Kmart and $199 at Amazon??? The only difference that I can see is that the Amazon one comes with an extra stylus, which I seriously doubt is worth $99 LOL!Anyway, just wondering if anyone else can figure out what the deal-io is?? Thanks ![]() |

That's odd... I've been researching these too and everything I've read says they're ~$100. I don't see why the one on amazon would be twice that unless it comes with other stuff, but it doesn't say it does...

Ah... read some of the reviews....it looks like there are some sellers trying to sell them for over retail

Also, does anyone know if it comes with the AC adapter or do you have to buy that separate?

The MSRP is $100. If it's more than that on amazon than I'm guessing it was probably an amazon vendor trying to take advantage of people. Those things are really popular right now.

Yeah, it's a perfect example of a hot item right before the holidays
I've been looking at both this and the vtech one and can't decide what to do... I've read a million reviews and there are so many good and bad things about both.

Yeah, what Christina said. The leapfrog website sells leappad bundles that do come with extra stuff for way less than $199. That's just crazy!

Morgan - what made you decide to go with the leappad over the vtech?

Well, I haven't really, not 100% anyway. In reading some of the reviews on the vtech, it seems like the Leappad might be too young for her??? UGH! IDK, it's so hard to know, yk?

It seems totally impossible to decide LOL :) It sounds bad to say,but as familiar as Z is with my iPhone and my dad's iPad, I'm worried he's going to think either one of the kids' ones are lame

Exactly! Heck, I'm thinking I would rather spend the money on an iPad by the time you figure in the cost of everything needed for either one of those! LOL My DH and I both have an iPod touch and the kids love them. Just not so sure about the educational value of the apps?? Someone on another thread mentioned the Kindle Fire, but I have the same concern about that?? UGH.

IKWYM! We've been looking at the kindle fire too, but still haven't decided on anything. My DH is a die-hard Mac guy, but an iPad (for the family) isn't really in the budget this year I don't think :(

Amen sistah! Not for us either unfortuntely. I think we are going to go with the Leappad and see what happens LOL! I just can't see getting her the Kindle either $$$, just concerns me. Maybe in a couple years. it's just so hard to know if they will like something, you just don't know until you get it and they play with it. Roll of the dice baby! |

We got an android tablet for C instead of getting a leapster. Leapster games are crazy expensive! I can buy dozens of apps for the cost of one game that he's going to get bored with rather quickly. Plus you can and get tons of free apps for the tablet. He thinks he's big stuff too since it's meant for grownups. Lol!

Couple questions about the Android-where did you get it and what kinds of apps does your DS like to use? How much are the apps?

And can I just say that I am cautious about what my kids are taught and so I am somewhat leary of these educational toys. Thing is you can't really know what they are teaching until you get one :/ Even the Leapfrog stuff, heck PBS teaches some stuff that I would rather my kids not learn. Anyone else with me? hehehe

Interesting about the android tablet for kids, I'll have to take a look. Although at first glance for $199 it seems like a non-kids one might make more sense.
IDK about the games/apps that are available for non-kids ones, but I know we have some good ones on my iphone (like the starfall app and some of the PBS ones). I've never run across anything I had a problem with, but we're pretty open on stuff like that ![]() Mary Beth - I'd love to know what kinds of apps you have for him on the android?

We are looking at the Kindle Fire now
LOL! Trying to decide what the best thing is all around. I think we would get the most use out of the Kindle Fire as a family. For $199 seems like a better deal. I looked at the app store on Amazon and there's a ton of free educational apps which is nice AND you can test them for free on the computer, so that's really neat. I think I am going to start a thread about the Kindle Fire and see what people think that have them. Well, I guess first I will check and see if there's a thread already :P hehe
