I've read that the Thirsties covers run big.. Is this true? And just how big do they run?
I've checked out their sizing info, and I'm not really sure what to think.. The Mediums are supposed to fit 14-22" in the waist and 8-12" in the thigh. The Larges fit 16-25" in the waist and 10-14" in the thigh.
My average sized 15 month old has a 19" waist and 11.5" thigh. She is 25 lbs.
So, she could wear either size. But, if they are generously cut, then I am thinking the Mediums are going to be a better fit than the Larges. My only concern is that if her thighs get bigger, then they may be too tight in the leg area...
Should I scrap the thirsties all together and just look for a cover geared towards chunky thighs? Or should I trust that her thighs won't chunk any more? She is definately more active and should start "thinning out" soon.. My oldest did around this age too.
Whatcha think? |

I think the Thirsties were the best for my daughter's chunky thighs! The last size I bought was medium, and she was about 4-5 months. She still could have easily worn her smalls, I just needed more and didn't want to waste money on more smalls when she would grow out of them soon. That is a tough call. The mediums were big on her at 5 months, but not THAT big.

Hmmm... good to know! Maybe I will go with the large.. I would hate for her to grow out of something I just bought.

My 91/2 month chunker wears mediums. He's about 22 lbs and there is still plenty of room in them. Depending on the diaper underneath, I can sometimes even still use the crossover tabs. I've heard that the larges are REALLY large. If I were you, I'd probably get mediums, although I might buy just one at first to try it out.

I have a medium cover that fits my LO at 26 pounds and 21 months with plenty of room to spare. I had a large AIO for him at one point and I sold it because I couldn't ever imagine him fitting into it before PL. I think the most important measurement is the thighs. My LO doesn't have chunky thighs- his thighs are about 11". The large fit him fine in the waist (with crossover tabs) and the rise was big but ok, it was the legs that were just too big on him and I got too many leaks.

Thanks for the replies!
I think the best course of action is to just try out one of each size to see which one works best!

The large will probably fit but a bit big. My son is 34 lbs, but only has a 19" waist and 12" thighs. The larges either touch at the waist or overlap. The biggest part of them is they are roomy to accomodate fitteds. We got them a while ago and he still has lots of room in them.

we have larges for DS and the tabs meet in the middle over a fairly large fitted. DS is about 40 lbs and 40 inches tall.
