I don't even want to hear the rumors about Harry potter.
My mother blurted out a rumor the other day and said such and such will such and such. and then asked if I had heard that yet. I said, no and i hope it's not true, why would i want to know the ending before i read the book? then she realized how lame she was ... i mean, what if it was true and she ruined the ending to a series i've been reading my entire married life??? ??? ??? ??? it's not like she's up on these things, but now if it's true i'm going to wonder ![]() just be quiet and stop blurting rumors (addressed to IRL people). I love a good theory and discussion about what might happen, but for people to spill the beans, even if theu end up being wrong, is just *sticking out tongue* Plthplthplthplthplth (vent over. thanks for listening) |

My dad was telling me that supposedly some copies of the book were shipped early, they're posted online, etc. etc. I DON"T WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING. I really feel as though I should not leave the house or turn on the tv until I've finished the book.
I hope whatever your mom blurted out was not true. That's a huge bummer. On the bright side, less than 48 hours until we can get cracking on the book for real! Edited by Delias mom - 19 Jul 2007 at 8:46am |

My dad and I got the book at the same time last time. He has more time to read than I do since he doesn't have small children and he asked me if I knew that _______ died. Argh. Seriously, I don't want to know the ending of ANY of the books, and if I do I will turn to the back and read it myself!
So I'm in the same boat, I don't want to know ANYTHING until I've had a chance to read it for myself. I just hope that it's a good ending that ties up all loose ends.

My dh is going nuts because he will be at work all day and I will be at home getting to read. I promised I wouldn't let anything slip out but it is going to be really hard! I read fast, he reads slowly...it will be ages until we can talk about it!

DH and I tend to read the book slower than most people we know because we read it to each other, meaning we only read when we have time together ... sometimes we'll read until 3 or 4 a.m. (that was before wesley, we haven't done that lately).
i imagine that it'll go slowly this time too, and that's fine, kind of like savoring our last few bites of dessert |

I'm the opposite. I cannot stand surprises. I flip around in a book when I read it. I start reading the beginning and then go to the end to find out what happens.

Aw, Emily. that is so stinking romantic!
I'm about to pee in my pants in anticipation. I can't wait!!!!! And true to form, I'll gobble it right up. To heck with savoring the last bites. Just like chocolate cake, it stands no chance of being savored. let me at it!
That said, if I wait a few years, given my mama brain, i won't remember a thing and I'll get to read it all over again

Hey All!
Speaking of forgetting, has everyone "prepared" for the HP7 book? Ideally I wanted to read HP5 and HP6 before reading the last one. I haven't read either in at least 2 years and I am sure I have forgotten certain people and details that I'd want to know off the top of my head when reading HP7. I started reading HP5 again and I'm only on the 5th chapter.

I had intended to read some of the other books beforehand, but just didn't get a chance. I'm too busy with school. My sister did though I think my SIL did too.
But, I'm not getting my HP7 this weekend. I'll get it eventually, but not right now. |

I HATE it when people do that!!! '
I was planning to re-read six because I just finished re-reading them all less than a year ago. I probably won't get to read seven for a couple of weeks even tho we're getting it the day it comes out. I'm giving DH first dibs and hoping he won't accidentally spoil it for me.

So I read HP7 online (I have a reason, I swear!). But I flat out REFUSE to tell anyone anything, or even DISCUSS it! It's just rude...

I'm curious just what your reason could be that you'd read a book before it's release. Is there a way to do that?

Apparently there is a copy online. I think it was scanned or something. I can't imagine someone taking the time to scan 700+ pages.

the online copy is some guy who took jpeg pictures of each and every page.
the new york times apparently printed a review of hp7 on thursday. all i can think of that is "what kind of jerk wants to ruin it for everyone??" i mean, an online copy, you really have to be looking for and take some effort and time to read, if you're that determined to read it ahead of time, then go for it. but a review in the times? people could be skimming the paper and see things that would seriously spoil their enjoyment of the book. that just seems like jerkiness..... |

I refuse to read those reviews. What horrid people to spoil it for everyone. I've been hanging out on Wikipedia, erasing the spoilers and vandalism that people keep posting. It's just so mean spirited. My copy is due in the middle of the week and I'm a camp counselor for a bunch of 10-16yo kids all next week. I read a copy early because I knew that if I didn't, I would find out from them. But I'm doing my best to make sure that no one else has their fun spoiled (ie: patroling Wikipedia, etc).
