I keep telling myself to be patient and just rent for the first month, but the nesting instinct is too strong!!! I want to buy stuff now!!!!  So I keep going back and forth on it, but I might want to at least get some prefolds ordered, I'm sure you can never have too many.

Anywho.... what is your favorite brand of prefold and why?  I get the feeling many of you really love the GMDs, but I'm also looking at the Bummis organic cottons.  There also may be great brands that I don't know about so if you got an opinion, let me know :)

Bummis are just as nice as GMD but I think the GMD are a bit cheaper. I don't think you can ever lose on buying prefolds. They are great diaper doublers and stuffers for pockets and AI2 once they have been outgrown. Also my very favourite kitchen towel is a lone prefold. I will be using all my old prefolds in the kitchen when DS is done with them. I know it sounds kind of gross but a little bleach and the sani cycle will clean them up.

I like GMD, but they are the only brand I have used.  I agree with Michelle, you can't have too many.  We had more than we needed for diapering so the extras are great for dusting, drying dishes, burp cloths, changing pads and so many other uses!

Oh yeah and all the uses that Amy suggested. I would definitely indulge in that nesting instinct and buy some cloth to pet and ogle over. Honestly as much s I love my Bummis, GMD has a great newbie printout booklet that they send that is quite useful. There site is full of great information and they have very fast shipping.

GMD and DiaperRite prefolds are pretty comparable. I like them both. You cannot beat GMD's shipping and customer service, IMO. They also have nice Cloth-eez doublers made of prefold material that that pair well with their flats and prefolds. Karen sends a nice info booklet with your first order.

I haven't owned any Bummis PFs in almost 5 years so this could be something they've fixed but their PFs didn't last through even 1 child for me. GMD PFs I got with the same child are still going strong and being worn by a second child now.

I'm partial to GMD. Their sizing has always worked well for my LOs, and you can't beat the customer service! The CS is what keeps me coming back to them for whatever diapering item we need.

organic prefolds and flats wash up differently, they shrink some or the shape gets wonky, but i LOVE their absorbency. plain cotton is more dependable for a consistent shape/size (most prefolds brands give approx measurements after wash).

They are more pricey, but I really love all of my OBV/OBT pfs! I have several differnt brand, but I kinda like them all and they work in any fold or cover and are so easy to fit! Clap
