Amanda that's what I'd worry about too. A lot of the reviews that I have read where parents complain that it's terrible because their babe got a flat head from it - they were the ones who used it as their savior to sleep for their child. Maybe w/ the 'deluxe' version since there is extra cushion it won't be as bad... even if I don't plan to use it for nights... never know what can happen. I'll have to update once I go buy it tomorrow..... as soon as I get it put together. lol

Okay well I got it last night and Mason helped me put it together this afternoon. It took the two of us about 15min... so if you don't have a 4 year old helping it would probably take 7-10mins. lol  I got the one I posted - the deluxe version or whatever - and it's SO soft. There's a pillow part so I have no doubt it would be comfy on babes head. It folds up super easy and looks like it will be great for newbie!

Lauren it's actually not big at all, in fact it's smaller than I imagined it would be. I actually like that it's smaller than I though. lol

Okay so now that the newbie is here and I've been using it - I do love it! I'm wondering though - have any of you mamas used it for sleeping at night? I know I said I didn't want it for this purpose, but she sleeps so much better in that (or the carseat when we've come home from somewhere) than she does the cradle at night! I'm wondering if it's the incline that helps her sleep better? Of course she could just be still mixed up on the days/nights. But, I'm kinda desperate for sleep and it's only been a week! lol It won't be a long-term sleeping spot since as soon as she's down to waking just once a night and she's a little bigger I'll move her to her own room. Wdyt? It's approved for sleeping.... so I guess I just want someone to tell me it's okay to try. lol

That is the only place dd3 slept at night.   She spent many naps in it, too.

Thanks Becky :)  I'm gonna give it a go tonight. Although I have my thoughts that it's the mixup on day vs. night... and that it's getting worse. The girls been asleep since 1pm! I woke her to eat and she's sorta ate while asleep and just passed back out. I can't get her to stay awake! But I'm sure at 3am she'll have no issues waking up for an hour :P

I would go for it! For a long while DD only slept in her bouncy/rocking seat. I knew it would not be forever and it wasn't

My good friend had to have her youngest sleep in a car seat until he was about 6 months old because of reflux and he does not have a flat head (he is not in there all the time) and he sleeps great out of it now.

Yeah Sarah, she's a spitter like Mason was.... but her ped said that refulx can't be diagnosed before 4 weeks. Sounds possible though since if she's awak she think she has to either be eating... or she's screaming :(

I learned a lot about reflux in newborns when dd3 was in the nicu. All 3 of my girls had reflux as babies.  DD3 had reflux from birth (literally - refluxing in the hospital).  Since reflux in infants is typically an issue of an immature sphincter valve, it is something that can appear right away.

She didn't seem to be in pain b/c of the reflux, though.  The pediatric pulminologist said that babies don't produce stomach acid until around 3-4 weeks and that stomach acid is what causes them pain.  Some produce more acid than others.  Since some babies with reflux are "happy spitters" (not in pain from the reflux), doctors typically won't prescribe medication for the babies unless there are signs of pain associated w/ the reflux (back arching, etc).  Since I had 2 other kids w/ painful reflux and dd3 had been in the nicu b/c of a non-breathing issue that almost always results in medication-necessary reflux, the pulminologist put her on medication as it was basically a "sure thing" that she'd have problems.  She did. But hers was well controlled from the beginning and she was in the least pain overall of my 3 kids.

So your ped was kinda right - they don't diagnose before 3-4 weeks, but you can see the signs before then.

my older 2 had issues w/ dairy products in my milk.  made reflux worlds worse (and caused major eczema for dd2).  it's not super uncommon.  just something else to consider.
