I must admit that I do not usually shop at Hy-Vee because it is a little upscale for us, esp considering its location, but our neighbor gave us his glass milk bottles so we went there to exchange them for some fancy local milk (cotton candy, strawberry and orange cream Tongue)

Anyway, we looked at the sale items and the "reduced for quick sale" items and came home with a "ton" of meat for cheap.

Split chicken breast $.88/lb- 10 packages at about $4.50 each= $45
Ground turkey- $2.00 for 20oz- 3 packages= $6
Certified 85% Ground beef- $1.99/lb- 8 packages at about $4 each= $32
Pork loin pork chops with coupon ($1 off per package) 5 packs at $1.67 each = $8.35
Just Bare 20 oz Boneless skinless thighs 11 packs at $2 each = $22

about $113 for nearly 80lbs of quality meats.  that is an average of about $1.41/lb Big smile and that makes me happy.

The chicken thighs are happily marinating in Teriyaki, Thai BBQ and Italian marinades.
The ground turkey is mixed with some ground beef, onions, peppers and garlic and will be bagged up cooked and ready to season.
The split breast meat will be boned for broth and either cooked and cubed, marinated, or flattened and stuffed.
The pork loin chops will get a bath in marinade and frozen.
And the ground beef remains will become burger patties.

I am thrilled to get such a great deal on meats after going over budget last month.  God is good. Smile

Awesome!

I've been able to score a little bit of cheap meat myself lately and it's SO nice to get a good deal on something that's normally such a big chunk of our food budget.

There’s a big difference between Knowledge & Wisdom. Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in fruit salad.

That's awesome! I have to ask, how was the orange milk? I always want to try that and the root beer, but it makes me nervous lol. I hate to spend the money on the favors to end up not liking it.

The Hy-Vee by our old house had a great organic section. The one by our new house doesn't. They are building a new one, so i hope that changes. I don't generally shop at Hy-Vee though. I get much better deals at Super Target. I rarely buy coupon items, so I'm sure that is a factor.
