Anyone have 3 wide in the back seat of a minivan? I was thinking, if a "new" vehicle didn't happen before December that I could get 3 radians to help free up some space. The actual seat is only 43" though, and the radian measurements are 15" wide which doesn't seem possible. That's not accounting for the dead space between the seat and the arm rest/cup holder though - maybe that gives enough wiggle room? I have seen some people say that they were able to get all 3 in the back seat, but not sure how. Maybe mine is just narrower than average? I measure the back seat of an Astro (what I am looking at) and it's a full 10" wider so I could most likely gt 3 wide with just one new seat. The middle seat is the same width too! I could potentially have a true 8 seater vehicle!! That's kind of exciting since my current 7 seater van is a tight squeeze with 6.

I haven't tried in our van, but I have 2 radians and a scenara in our civic and without having measured, I can say the civic *looks* smaller than the back of the van. 3 radians would probably work for you. It would be good if you could test it out before buying.

what kind of minivan do you have???  I've fit 3 seats (not radians, either) across in the back of my Odyssey and in my old Toyota Previa.

the problem I have w/ the Radian is fitting 3 seats FF across w/ them is tricky b/c the top (the shoulderish area) is much wider than the base.  If you do FF, RF, FF, it works better.

I just did R/ R (rear facing)/ Britax Frontier in the back of our Odyssey.  It hasn't been a picnic to get S out of that RF seat, but the install of the three seats was surprisingly easy.

I can get a GN and 2 Radian's in the 3rd row of our T&C

Our 3rd row has weird plastic pieces on the seat bottom near the back so to get 3 across I can not put a Radian RFing outboard (If I am only doing 2 in the 3rd row I can put the GN outboard because it doesn't have to sit as close to the outer edge). So I do FFing GN, RFing RN, FFing RN and it worked great!

If the GN fits in there than 3 RN would fit as well.

From reading on car-seat.org you really can't jusdge what will fit by the measurement of the seat either. Radian's also puzzle together really well FFing/RFing.

Have you searched car-seat.org? I have usually found our exact make/model of car and can easily tell what will fit from what other people have used.

My van is an '01 Chrysler Voyager (one of the transition models after buying out Plymouth). I didn't think about the puzzle piece aspect, that might be enough wiggle room. I just don't want to shell out $600+ on seats not knowing if it's actually going to work or not... especially since we already have a ton of money invested in carseats! I wish I could see into the future and know if it was actually going to last us a while longer or just bite the dust. The other downside I found to my plan is I don't have rear vents in my current van and I guess since it's older the A/C is not working so well. It was alraedy up to 92* today and the kids were red faced and sweaty in the back seat and every time I asked DS if he could feel any air yet he said no. I know if finally had to work it's way back there, but it's not going to get any cooler and I don't want that to become an issue this summer.
