So, the Cupcake and I went to The Great Cloth Diaper Change today. I put her in SBish longies, with a aplix closure fitted underneath. First, I was the ONLY person with a baby in wool, though that didn't seem to weird anyone out THAT much. But the we did the change....

I brought a SBish snapless the change The Cupcake into. I prefer to pin these diapers. I don't know why, I just do. So, I get her in the diaper, and grab the pin to fasten it, and the mom next to me says 'OMG, you PIN??? Someone show this lady a snappi!!'. Then the other lady next to me had to comment on it too. I told them both that I do, indeed, own several snappis, I just don't prefer them for this diaper.

Way to make me feel like a freak. I should have went all the way and took a GMD cotton flat to pin on her. Might as well be the really weird one, after all.

Very few of the mom's IRL I know that use cloth use wool or flats. Quite a few use PD's and PF's with PUL covers.

Well, I was the only one I could see that used anything but a pocket or AIO this morning.  I saw BG, FB, Grovia, etc. etc. etc. but no fitteds or prefolds or flats.  They gave away a couple fitteds as door prizes and the mamas looked at them with a "What am I going to do with this?" expression.  Confused  And the worst was the mama who won the fleece cover (which I was super coveting).  She didn't even know what it was! Angry

*Okay, breathe*

Despite these annoyances, I had a great time this morning.  We changed B into a Swaddlebee's elephant print flat with a Thirsties Duo blackbird cover.

And the cake was yummy too.

It was all pockets and AOIs at my location too.  And mostly young babies.  I was definitely the odd one out, with an almost 3yo in a battered old Sandies.

The best part of my experience was running into people I know (casually from work, playschool), who I had no idea were CDing.

And the cupcakes were good too!

Pretty much everyone had a pocket or AIO at my location too.  I was tempted with a workhorse and cover and just went with the easy pocket.

You are definalty not weird though.  Last time i did a fitted and cover.

You're not a freak at all! And I agree - they were probably just trying to enlighten you to the 'easier' way of fastening a dipe! lol  Fwiw, I totally WISH I could pin. I can't pin a flat to save my life. ha!

Yeah, it was pretty much all pockets and AIO's at mine. I saw a LOT of BG. Directly around me there was also an OsoCozy AIO, a RagaBabe AIO, and an Elemental. I did see a few fitteds around too, but not too many. I did see one fleece cover.

Could it possibly have been her sense of humor? I have been told I have a "dry" sense of humor and it is something I have to work on regularly.

So glad everyone had fun :)

Anytime someone acts like I'm crazy for my choices, I just gush about how much I like xyz. Shuts em up real quick ;)

Last year I went to the GCDC and I was the only one without an AIO or pocket in the whole room.  I changed him into a workhorse fitted under homemade fleece longies.  I changed him out of a homemade fitted, but homemade diapers were not allowed for the official change.  This year we didn't go because he's 3 and wears undies.  Thumbs Up

I only pin the snapless, too. I wouldn't want to snag my precious wool. I'd have told her that thank you, I have seen a snappi and I don't want those teeth anywhere near my knit.

You're not a freak. If I had sbish I'd be excited :). I only pin my goodman as because I don't want snappis tearing them up! I took tot bots, not because I don't prefer a lot of other things, but it was chilly and they are the fastest for my inexperienced self to change. I think pins are the best thing for a perfect fit though. And I am still jealous of the sbish.
