I went. I didn't leave with positive feelings though. I'm relatively new to the area, don't know many people at all, and I was hoping to meet more CDing Mom's, since it's apparently not very common out here in SE New England. Instead, someone made a snide comment about pinning a diaper that made me really uncomfortable, and it seemed like all the other Moms knew at least a few people there, so it felt kind of cliquey. Oh.....how I miss Ann Arbor, MI

Thanks! I was bummed but it was my own fault, I should have stayed and kept asking people. I looked on the website for the event here and 37 people were there so obviously I should have been able to find it! Oh well, we will go next year...

We had 66 Mamas show up! Yea! I got to change one of the witnesses babies because she couldn't as a witness. We were able to provide childcare for older LOs and I had extra diapers on hand for anyone to use so no one was left out :) It was on the news so hopefully this helps generate more interest in CDing! We're slowly taking over the world LOL!

I won a book about cloth diapering. It was petty cool seeing all those folks that cloth diaper and it was great to meet Emily and her boys.
Poor Jackson had to pee when we were getting ready to do the change. Made him hold it till I could get his diaper on. Nothing like confusing the poor kid. Amy-- sorry you missed it. That would be a bummer after getting ready and driving there. |

I tried to go to the one here... It was supposed to be at a farmers market and have educational tables and kids activities... When I got there, there was no one there, I think they must have moved it inside because of the cold. Then I asked one of the farmers if he knew where they went and he had no idea what I was talking about. Then I was too embarassed to keep asking people so I just went home. I was so disapointed, was really looking toward to meeting the other mommies!

Where in VA? I am going to be babysitting in Hampton, VA Beach the last two weeks of May...if that is by a great coincidence where you are from, you will totally need to school me on what to do with a small horde of children! I will have my Stella, a friend who is tagging along with me with two small children, and then my sisters five! |

Aw that stinks Clare! That was the case last year. My mom went w/ me to keep Mason outside. There were a TON of people last year.
Sondra - yes DH and I are from about 30mi south of Pittsburgh. We're living in Virginia right now though. But we normally visit home a lot. If I weren't about to pop out a kid at the end of summer I'd say we should plan a meet-up. Jamie and I try to keep up w/ meet-ups. And Amber (corrinesmom) met up w/ us at the Children's Museum once too!

I had heard this, and also something about only the parent and the participating baby being allowed in the changing area. But, when we got to ours, that was not the case. But it was in a dojo, and not terribly crowded. I am so sorry that you missed out on the fun over a stupid technicality. |

I had to back out of mine. I got a list of rules that said I couldn't bring DD with me and DS for the actual diaper change. I didn't have anyone else that could watch her, so I just didn't go.

I've signed up to go to the one in Chilliwack, BC. Which is almost an hour away, and I might regret it b/c baby will be cranky (it's during his nap time) - but I want to be part of history, meet other cloth mama IRL, and apparently there are some pretty nifty swag bags at this one...
