Hi mamas. I need your help. Now that DD needs larger and larger PFs, I'm getting tired of toting them around in the diaper bag. I'm so tempted to get sposies since they take up so little space and take up no space once used since I can toss them. But I am determined to use sposies as little as possible. How do you use your cloth diapers when you're out and about. I'm thinking of having a diaper bag I leave in the car and a smaller diaper bag I take into stores and stuff when I'll only be in for 30-60 minutes. I'll try that before I resort to sposies. Are there trimmer dipes I can take on the go? Agh! I need help!

I take one per hour that I estimate we'll be out and I'm thinking of just taking one PF and cover in the smaller bag. Would that work? I want to get something trim and easy to use though. I prefer organic but anything's better than sposies.

Maybe I could get more econappies just for out of the house. I have 4 right now. They are organic, fairly trim, and def easy to use. Plus I already have 4.

I am out so much with harry. I totally rely on my flips for the days that we are out for 12 hours (like at the hospital). I pack about 5 covers and as many of the organic inserts I can fit in my bag, along with wipes, fleece liners and my wipes bottle. without flips, my cding outside the home would be very short lived.

ah ha!! I can use the 4 econappies that I have as AI2s with the ragababe inserts I already have. Easy, take up less space than PF and all organic!

I usually only take two diapers in the diaper bag, however I keep a second spare bag in the trunk with a couple sposies, wipes, and a change of clothes in it. Whenever we are done with sposies (probably when DS goes up another size) I'm going to put to pocket diapers in there in the colors I don't use daily on him (pink & purple).
If I'm going to the grocery with DS, I leave the diaper bag in the car and stuff his sippy cup and a few toys in my purse and just take that in. I hate having to lug a whole diaper bag into the store if I don't need to. Now on the other hand, if I'm going to the mall I bring the bag. |

Oh, ya! I forgot flips makes an organic diaper and it's fairly inexpensive. I was also looking at the ragababe 2 step

Ok, now I'm seriously considering buying 3 best bottom diapers and 3 extra inserts. I don't think I'm ever out of the house with the baby for longer than 6 hours. And every review says they are THE trimmest. I'm thinking that also means they take up less space.

I like to keep a padfolded flat and Thirsties Duo in a wet bag ready to go. That way if I'm just running in somewhere and don't need a change I can leave it in the car. If it's going to be a long trip it's nice to have a bigger bag to pack more in, though.

The best bottoms are pretty simple for on the go I hope that you like them and stick with your cds:) I think I may start using flips for my diaper bag rather than my econobum cover and prefold.

the trimmest diaper i have ever used is an osocozy all in one. they were almost as trim as a sposie. awesome out and about diaper IF you can change often. they are not super absorbent.
i usually use my flips with the stay dry inserts while out and about. or pad folded flats, which are just as trim as an insert,

I have and like my best bottoms. trim and all.
personally, I don't take dipes in the store w/ me at all if I'm going to be gone for an hour or so. I do have a few dipes in the car at all times. I just change in the car. I prefer it to changing in a public restroom. especially since my dd2 touches EVERYTHING. ick.

Ditto what Becky said. If we're going to the park or somewhere close to home I don't even bother to bring a diaper at all! Grocery store? Maybe a single trifolded prefold inside a cover on the front seat of the car. I'm a minimalist though, and have always packed SUPER light. By the time my babies were 6 months old, I never brought clothes anywhere at all, and only packed like 2 diapers for an outing. We change before we leave the house and I don't remember going shopping longer than it took for one diaper, or maybe a single car change.

I use econappies, gmd prefolds, and sbish snapless. They all seem really bulky to carry around :( My diaper bag is huge. And I like to bring 1 diaper per hour that I think I'll be out of the house plus 2 covers. keep in mind, my babe is still little - only 10 weeks old. So, she still poops and pees really often. Hopefully when she's older, I can get away with less dipes in the diaper bag. I also take my maya wrap with us and that takes up a lot of space, too. I might have to start leaving it at home. I love to carry her in it, but we're in Wyoming and it's 29 degrees today. So, I think a weather protector over her in the carseat might work better til it gets a little warmer over here.
