I am looking for some guidance for a nighttime diaper solution. We are currently using sposies at night as we still have a bunch left and DS is a fairly heavy wetter at night. However I know I'm running out, and I'm eager to get DS into cloth at night. I exclusively use Comfy Rumps Pocket Diapers, so I'm looking at the Joey Bunz Hemp Inserts. I want to stick with something that I can stuff into the pockets if at all possible. However, I'm a little confused about a few things:
1. I know that there are two different kinds of the JB Hemp Inserts. But the regular is 6 layers and the premium is 4 layers? Can anyone explain that to me? Are the premium's worth the extra $?2. Will 1 hemp insert at night likely be sufficient? I know that I will have to use it under a layer of microfiber, but I'm wondering if I should plan for 1 or 2 inserts per night. DS usually sleeps 12 hours straight at night. (Yeah, I know I'm lucky). 3. Is there anything weird about hemp that I should know? I know that I will have to wash them multiple times before I use them, but I'm wondering if there is any other quirks with hemp. Any advice ladies? 4. I'm thinking that the large would probably be the appropriate size, being that we're right on the verge of DS being on the largest rise setting on the diapers. If we end up having another baby at some point, can you fold the inserts and make them work for smaller rise settings? Thanks! Edited by GoldenEmpress - 04 Mar 2012 at 11:09pm |

- We use them as pocket inserts instead of MF and sometimes as a doubler with fitteds for nights. We have the Premium JB which I think is worth the extra money for the ease of washing and drying alone :)
- How thick is the MF insert you use at night? This might determine whether you need 1 or 2 JB inserts.
- We have the medium size I think and it works great for us especially as a doubler and for small or medium pocket settings. For Large Pocket diapers you would probably want the size Large.
- As far as washing, we just washed ours separately from the rest of our stash 6 times or so to prep them and since then have cared for them just like everything else - I love them!!
Hope this helps Edited by gbabies - 06 Mar 2012 at 6:06pm |

How long are your mediums? I'm just afraid that if I get the large they will end up being too big. I guess I could always fold it over partway, right?
I'm thinking that I'll get 6. I usually wash every third day, so I want to make sure I have enough. Thanks gbabies! |

After several washes and use, they are 11.5" long. I use them on the middle setting of our pocket diapers and am *hoping* they will also fit on the largest setting but not sure if they will leave too much space at the top or bottom of the pocket, KWIM? I should actually go try it right now . . .

Okay, my medium JBP inserts work pretty well at the largest setting on my bG4 Pockets. There is a small amount of room left at the back of the diaper (or front, depending on how you place the insert) but I do not think it is enough to impact the performance of the diaper. Guess it remains to be seen . . . |
