I kept Mason in night diapers for a long time. Just because I was afraid of an accident

I kept DS in night diapers until he was dry consistently and waking in the night to go potty by himself. I could tell he really didn't want to have an accident, it bothered him when he wet the bed so I didn't want to make a big deal of it.
If he is just being lazy you might try to put him to bed without a diaper and see what happens. It might help him to realize when he should get up and pee. I'm sure you wouldn't want to do that every night but I don't think it would hurt to try.

G was out of dipes @ 3yrs 1mo. However, every time he falls asleep, his body has no ability to hold it. That includes a random nap in the car
. Needless to say, he's still in night pull-ups.D started waking up dry at around 3.5yrs. He not only was dry while sleeping, but had the desire to hold it until he could get to the bathroom. Since it was sporadic, I still had him wear pull-ups until he was nearly 4yo. For now, Logan would rather use his dipe than the toilet, but that isn't always going to be the case. In your situation, I'd consider working hard to keep him using the bathroom when he's fully awake, and setting the rest of it aside temporarily. Eventually they all know that poopy/wet pants is convenient in the short run, but pretty uncomfortable in the long run. |

I kept Sugar Bum in night dipes for a grand total of one week after PLing, however her PLing went something like this:
Sugar Bum, 28 months old at the time: Mommy, I need to use the potty! (Sits on potty and goes).
And that was PLing for us. She just decided she was done with diapers one day. I was afraid of night accidents for the first week, but she never had one and was resisting the night diaper, so we gave it up. She has never had a night accident. To be honest, she's probably only had about 3 accidents in the little over 1.5 years she's been out of diapers. |

All my kids are still in some form of night diapers. DD1 and DS1 wear motherease bedwetter pants or underjams at night (cloth as long as it was washed, 55ยข each underjams for when I forget). We've only been using the bedwetter pants for a couple months but they seem more aware of it now. They want to stay dry and comfortable and they don't want to have to wear the goofy 'diapers' but they're not quite there yet.

I kept DS1 in pull ups at night for over a year. He consistently wet the bed every night no matter what. DS2, I kept in diaper at night for the first couple of weeks he was PLed and and he stayed dry so I switched him to underwear pretty easily. He was in undies for over a year with very rare accidents and then somewhat recently started wetting at night more frequently. I put him in pull ups at night now b/c I got tired of washing the sheets. He stays dry in them but when he wears underwear to bed he wets. Can't figure that one out

Good point, Christine. It might just be the new 'novelty' of potty learning that he's doing so great. Mason never had a night accident until this past summer when he was *SO* dead tired he was just peeing the bed, he wouldn't even wake up! He'd just get up in the morning and change his pants... and that's how I knew I neede to wash sheets. I think it was the summer exhaustion of playing all day plust the quadruple increase in fluid intake. I don't remember the last time he wet the bed since summer (watch, now that I typed that...).
I think I will give it another week of doing well then see how he is doing at nights. I think sadly he's going to have to stay in diapers at night for a while because my bedroom is upstairs and his downstairs and what usually happens is he gets up, turns on the tv, and watches cartoons before waking me up. lol I'm wondering if he'd go to the potty first though if he knew he'd pee everywhere. Right now I just think since it's a diaper he doesn't care, and doesn't want to strip his pjs + soaker + diaper to have to pee.

Oliver insists on wearing his night diaper. He always wakes up dry, and occasionally wakes up at night asking to go potty. I am okay with the diaper which is a large sandy and a large wool cover. He can wear it until it doesn't fit for all I care. I don't want to change sheets on the off chance of an accident and I don't feel like it is an obstacle to full potty learning. Just what we wear to bed.

Savannah was in night diapers for about a whole year after she day trained and would soak something every night, then one day it stopped. Spencer was in night trainers for a few months after he was day trained, but he was always dry in the morning. The pull-ups would get shredded before they got wet. On a really hot evening I told him that he could sleep in underwear if he'd use the bathroom before he went to bed. I was really nervous but he's had hardly any accidents.

It sounds like T and Logan are reading the same book on PLing! I still put him in a toddler ease with 1 doubler because a wet bed would tip dh over the edge of grossed out. My brother was a bed wetter until 12 so I suppose I might have a higher tolerance for wet bed smells. I digress.
I think with t that the morning wetness (not when he wakes up, but after he gets up) is just part of learning. It's still a little hard for him to work the zippers on some of his pjs and get the dipe pushed down and the toilet seat up. Add an interesting cartoon or toy and he doesn't stand a chance of getting it all right first thing in the morning. |

My ODS has been fully daytime trained since right about 3, but is still in nighttime diapers. I plan to keep him in nighttime diapers until he's consistently dry in the mornings, like totally everyday. I've wondered if there's a better way to do it, but he's worn undies a couple times to bed, switched to undies in the middle of the night a couple of times and still wet the bed (sometimes), so we're sticking to the diapers in the foreseeable future. I just don't have the time or energy right now to be washing his bedding more frequently or changing it all at 3am. So for now I'm just waiting until he has it completely figured out on his own. He's never put up much of a fight about the diapers, or I might rethink that.
