hey there.
I became a cloth diaper user 3 years ago and have been using the same 16 pocket diapers with inserts for both my kids. Well, one is no longer in diapers, and the other is still using the diapers. However, my problem is that we think the inserts just aren't as fresh anymore. The pocket diapers "Mommy's Touch) are holding up just fine, but the inserts just seem dry, and tough, and lifeless. They even stink a little like old clothes or dirt during usage. They are one-size cotton inserts. Would you say there is an expiration on these things? Should we plan on purchasing new inserts every few years? Any help appreciated, Sally |

have you tried stripping them? I'm still relatively new to Cd'ing but I really don't think there is an expiration on cotton. I could be wrong. I'll be interested to see what some other Mama's on here have to say.

I'd try stripping them first before buying new one's.

i think as long as they aren't falling apart they should have more life in them. Luckily cotton should be easier to revive. strip them either with a squirt of dawn (then rinse, rinse, rinse till there are no bubbles). or with a little bit of bleach.

Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't ever tried stripping because I've never really had problems with residue. I use a very mild, homemade laundry detergeant and I never smelled anything funky until now.
So, dawn dish detergeant? |
