My son is big enough to fit into the Ergo now and I love it. I tried with the infant insert and it never really worked for us. It's easy on my back and I like the pocket for my wallet and cell phone. Don't be scared off by the $100+ price tag, people pay this all the time for strollers. It is worth every penny.

This is by far my favorite carrier. I've used it from when my dd was approx. 2 months old and at 3 years old, she still loves it...Talk about bang for your buck!!! I have a 1 year old and I've just ordered a second one so they can both have one. I HIGHLY recommend this carrier...my LO'S are so comfortable they fall asleep in it.

Only peeve, I wish they had a better design for newborns like other brands. Other than that, it's great. My 3 year old ergo shows no wear and tear although it gets used ALOT! I rarely use my stroller because the Ergo is just way more easier!

I credit the ERGO with bringing my daughter back from the dark side, LOL! From the day she was born she was not the most responsive baby, didn't care who was with her, didn't really like to be held, never cried, just wasn't bonding well which really troubled me because my other child and I had bonded very easily and I really wanted her to want me! By the time she was almost one I was very concerned, if you tried to hold her she would lash out and fight to get away. I saw another mom using this at the grocery and her older baby looked so snug and happy against her I bought one that night. I carried my daughter around in it non stop for about 3 weeks and over that time she gradually grew used to being held and stopped fighting to be on her own. Now going on a year later she is very tightly bonded to me and our immediate family (although she can be very resistant to outsiders), she seeks out comfort from us and still loves to ""ride"" in the Ergo. I credit the Ergo's ability to hold a larger child closely to you in a secure and comfortable position for making this possible, it was really a miracle for us and for my daughter. I know it sounds extreme but I dont' know what she would be like without it.

What would I do without the Ergo???? I have taken my daughter on wonderful hikes with her on my back and did not feel any discomfort. Long plane rides, she would fall asleep on my front in it. Hands free shopping, airport running the list goes on...

The only down fall is, I wish they had more fun prints like the Beco does.

I have this in the Organic Chocolate. I wanted something that my husband could also carry. I also have a Beco, but it's a flowery print that I didn't think my DH would want to use it. I really really like this and use it almost daily. I keep it in the house for his evening fussy time. The back carry, which is my son's favorite, is a little tricky to master. I do wish that you could secure your baby in the carrier and then buckle the waist belt, but overall it's a wonderful carrier!

I would say the Ergo is one of my top 3 Must Have baby products. It's very comfortable, fits me and my much taller husband both, and it stays in our car at all times for quick trips. We use it MUCH more frequently than our stroller. We have even gone on vacations without a stroller and used only the Ergo. It is the best carrier I have tried! Well worth the investment!

I LOVE this carrier! I've been using it to carry my 1 year old (23 lb) boy on my back. It's GREAT! I use it at the grocery store, while washing dishes or doing other household chores, for light hikes, and for whenever I need him to take a nap but we're out an about. I've carried him for 3+ hours and been perfectly comfortable. He feels so light in it. I also love the bobbly/sleeping head holding snap-up thing -- infinitely convenient.

My husband has trouble getting our son into the ERGO in the back carry without assistance. He's a bigger man and can't really reach around his back very well. I've never had any issues getting my boy in by my self, but mabye that's becasue I'm small? I'm 5ft even, and slender. I don't know if that matters.

I agree that the newborn carry device was definetly an afterthought by the company, but it does work. One of my best friends has been using her ERGO with her daughter from day one (though she didn't buy the newborn thing. she just wrapped her baby up in a big blanket and that worked fine).

I love love love this carrier. My friend made me a maya wrap which I loved when my son was little, but he gained weight very quickly (he was 30 lbs at 9 months) and the wrap stopped working once he got so heavy. He has always been a very needy baby and loves to be held. A friend recommended the Ergo to me. I did my research and I am so grateful to have this carrier. This carrier has allowed me to snuggle with my little man as much as he needs and get things done around the house as much as I need. I have back problems and could never use the Bjorn type carriers especially since my son was such a big boy. This carrier is MUCH better on my back. This is my staple hiking backpack now. My son is almost 2 and is about 32 lbs and I can carry him just fine on my back far a good amt of time. It is also easy to put him in and take him out of the carrier for those ""I do/I walk"" moments followed quickly by the ""Up mommy. Piggy back"" moments. I love having him close to my body rather than set up away from me as some of the frame carriers are set up. This carrier is totally worth the money! It is durable (I have had mine for 1 1/2 yrs and it is in perfect condition with fairly regular use for a solid year), practical (as it lasts from infancy up to toddler hood) and versatile (as you can wear your baby in the front-with a hood that is great for napping, back or side).

LOVE this carrier! I use it several times a day and my husband loves it too. I originally bought the carrier and the backpack. I came back to buy the pouch so I don't have to take my purse with me shopping. My dd loves it and I can even use it for my son who is 4 when he gets tired of walking when we're out! I had a problem with the backpack and got a replacement one from Ergo no problem.

I have a love/hate relationship with this carrier. Once the baby is in the carrier, it’s very comfortable. The most annoying thing about this carrier is actually getting the baby in, and not being sure if the baby is actually in securely. Although they have newborn contraptions to hold a newborn, it seemed that this was an afterthought. The carrier doesn’t seemed designed to carry newborns.

Now that my baby is 7 months old, I use it more. In the front position it’s very comfortable, but it seems to be designed for the baby to face in, towards you. And since my baby, like many, like to face out, it would work better if they could face out. I think you can do it, but Ergo literature doesn’t have pictures of this, and I don’t think it was designed for this.

Getting a baby in the back position is still frustrating for us (baby is now 7 months). It’s best with 2 people (one to spot), but since most of us don’t have that luxury most of the time, I always try to check a reflection/mirror, to confirm baby is in securely. And, you need to have a good back, since you have to lean over a bit, while getting baby in place. (I actually stay leaned over until I know baby is in securely, since a couple of times baby would have dropped right off the back if I had stood up straight. This alone, frustrates me a bit about this carrier.

Lastly, I have a bit of a pet peeve. I had e-mailed the company informing them that they’re waist straps are made fairly small (especially for a new mom). I wear size 10-12 now and the waist strap barely fit when my baby was 2 months, so I can imagine that there are bigger moms. (of course all the models in their DVD are smaller women!). I never got a response from the company about this. I learned on my own that they do have strap extensions though. I work with clients/customers, so the fact that they never bothered to respond to my e-mail question is a bit annoying.

I've had friends telling me about the Ergo carrier since my oldest daughter was just weeks old (she's going to be 3 in 2 weeks). I finally broke down after carrying my youngest daughter (17 mos) old around the zoo in a Kelty framed back pack for only 30 minutes. We had to leave because my back hurt so badly. We got the Ergo in the mail 2 days ago. I immediately put it on my back, put the baby in, and proceeded to cook dinner. She was so comfy and content. Today we decided to take a short trip to Target and I carried my almost 3 year old (33lbs) through the store for an hour. She told me that it was very comfy and never complained once. She normally hates going to the store because she gets stuck in the back of the cart. This will be a huge help with grocery shopping and various other outings. I got the black organic one with the butterfly embroidery. It's very cool looking and even my husband will wear it (it's not overly girly). I wish I would have ordered one when my first was teeny tiny! I'll definitely keep it though for any future children!

We LOVE our Ergo carrier. We had a baby bjorn, which was fine when the baby was small. Once he started to get bigger carrying him on my front bothered my back. We bought our Ergo when he was about 8 months before a trip to Germany and used it everyday without a stroller. He loved being close to mommy or daddy and checking out all the sites or napping on the go. The Ergo fits both my (skinny) husband and my (curvy) self really well and is comfortable on both front or back. I tried the hip position once and it felt more fussy so haven't tried it again. Washes very well, has been very durable and looks as good as when we bought it.

I cannot say enough about my Ergo carrier. I did my research prior to adopting my daughter and because I had a serious car accident that resulted in crushed vertebrae and surgery for bone grafting/steel plate, I knew I needed an amazing carrier if I was to carry my baby. And as a single parent, it was me or a stroller! I bought the Ergo based on the many positive reviews but I also bought three other carriers. Well, to make a long story short, I long ago sold the other 3 carriers! The Ergo is absolutley amazing and I never had increased back pain even though I carried my baby almost full-time for the first few months (and anticiapated increased pain!). My baby came to me at 16 lbs too so not like she was a light weight newborn. Initially, I had some 'sore' muscles but nothing that kept me from using the Ergo all the time. I also credit this carrier with my daughter's quick bonding to me. My only issue with the carrier is that I have never been able to use it as a back carrier but I suspect that is more about my own physical limitations in getting the carrier on in this position. If I had someone to help me get my baby in the back position, I think I would love it as much as the front position. I am still able to use it in the front position and my dd is now 24 months and 26 lbs! This carrier also washes great and despite it being second hand to me, looks like new. When I see other people struggling with other carriers, I want to run and tell them about the Ergo! It doesn't get much better than that - well, maybe a gravity free baby, lol? My Ergo started it's life in Hawaii, has been to China twice (hiked the Great Wall) and has even hiked in Algonnquin Park. I will have a hard time parting with it!

This is an amazing carrier. I have used it since my son was about a month old (around 11 lbs) with the infant insert until about 4 1/2 month and then without the insert. This is the best carrier I have tried so far for carrying my chunky baby. I wear my son a lot throughout the day and I can nurse in this as well. My son will also nap in it, the hood comes in handy.

I absolutely LOVE this product. It has given me the flexibility to wear my son like a bookbag, and he is SUPER comfortable back there. I love the quick way I can get him into the front panel as well. I have also worn him on my hip but have only done that a couple of times. My son falls asleep, eats, plays, and makes a mess while on the carrier! It makes it a lot easier to shop with him rather than taking trains, and buses with a stroller.

The only con, is the learning to get him on the back. It still gives me a bit of a hassle in the winter with the coats, etc. I also haven't mastered taking him off the carrier without waking him up. But worth it with the comfort and benefits that it provides.

I wanted to love this carrier but it doesn't work for us. I'm short (5'3"") and it feels really bulky and hurts my lower back. I think because of my height it doesn't work how it should. When I do the hip carry the strap about takes my head off. Also my baby gets really hot in it. She is normally really warm and gets burning within a few minutes even if she's only in a diaper. I still think it's a good carrier, but if you fit into one of my problems it may not be for you.

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this product... I recieved this for my birthday when my son was 4 months old.
I had previously been using a snugli sling from walmart that had no back support. The ergo evenly distributes the weight so that I feel hardly any pressure on my shoulder... It also has an open back so breastfeeding is quite convieniant in it. However I would suggest throwing a blanket over top, becuase although it says it has a privacy hood and everyone I asked said they could not see my breast it still made me nervous. My son loves it and falls asleep everytime he is in it. You can also wear it on your hip or back however, my son is too small for the back position. My friend suggested it to me and I am so greatful....

If I were to only purchase one baby carrier, the ERGO would be it. It can be a little cumbersome for the itty bitty newborn stage, but after 2 months, it seems to work perfectly for any baby. We used a Baby Bjorn for the first six months, and although we had version with the lumbar support, it was never comfortable. Plus our daughter outgrew it when she was 4 months old.

We've used the ERGO for 3 years now! Our 3 1/2 year old still rides in it from time to time. It's still great for hikes and places where a stroller is just too cumbersome. She still loves to ride in it!

You really can't go wrong with an ERGO! There are short periods when a pouch or ring sling were more convenient, but overall the ERGO was the best value for us!

I purchased an Ergo Carrier for our vacation to Disney World for my 23 month old. I thought we would only use it while we were in line and also in areas that I can't take the stroller. I ended up using it so much more that I thought! We also purchased the backpack that attaches to the carrier. Both were lifesavers! I used the front carry for DS while we were in line most of the time and even left him in it on the rides when he was sleeping. If we did get him out, it was super easy and quick and I just left the carrier on setting it on my lap. I also used the back carry while we were walking around. I did have difficulty using it by myself, but I think with a little more practice, I would do fine alone. I did find the hip carry rather uncomfortable with my 35 pound son. The only other con I found was that the waist belt was VERY small! I had to purchase the extender for myself and my DH. The backpack was huge! I also loved the pocket in the carrier for my cell phone and sunglasses. We also used it for quick trips and it fit a diaper, some wipes, a small wetbag, a bib, my phone and debit card. I would absolutely recommend this product! Trisha from Lil Bunz was also wonderful! :o)

My husband and I use both this carrier and a Babyhawk for our two month old. I like the Ergo because it is very comfortable for me, supports the baby pretty well, and is quicker to get on and off than the Babyhawk. My daughter usually falls asleep fairly quickly in it and is apparently comfortable enough to sleep for at least a couple of hours! Generally I've had pretty good luck getting the sleeping baby out without waking her up; I've had slightly more success with the Ergo than with the Babyhawk. The Ergo is easier to adjust for breastfeeding. My husband prefers the Ergo because it's easier to get on and off (plus I think he feels it's more manly!). The hood/privacy cover has come in handy.

The Ergo is quite bulky and hard to stash in a diaper bag than the Babyhawk. It also is not as stylish.

We have not tried using either carrier on our backs yet.

Compared to the Babyhawk, the Ergo is:
- bulkier
- less stylish
- quicker to get on and off
- no better or worse in terms of comfort for me and baby (both are very good)
- slightly easier to get baby out without waking
- doesn't have as much head support for baby
- has a built-in sunshade/hood/privacy cover

Overall, I am pleased with both carriers. My husband prefers the Ergo.

This is by far the best carrier out there and I just cringe when I see new parents pay retail for a new Bjorn because they don't know how absolutely superior the Ergo is. We had the following: New Native Sling, Moby Wrap, Baby Bjorn, Snugli Sport, framed back pack and the Ergo. The Ergo was by FAR our favorite. Some of the others were good, too, but if I had to pick one it would be the Ergo hands down. Daddy didn't mind wearing it, it goes on the front or back, and - most important - it shifts the weight off your shoulders onto your hips like no other carrier I've tried. I could easily walk around with a child in this for hours, where after 30 minutes in other popular carriers my shoulders/back would be killing me! Give it a try - you won't be disappointed!

I tried a few different carriers: new native sling, and this is THE BEST. It is comfortable on both myself and my husband. Grandma is even comfortable wearing it! The best thing about it is that I can nurse while wearing her. I thought that it might be a problem that she is not able to face outward - but she doesn't mind at all!

My husband will also wear it which is a big plus(its not girly) The only down side that I can see is that it is a little tricky to get my son in it when wearing it on my back. LOVE my Ergo carrier. I started using it on my back when my son was about 6 months old and already weighed over 20 pounds. Still using it now that he is 2 years old and 30 pounds. I have found it to be comfortable all day (at the county fair) and easy to carry with me in the car or stroller for use on the go. I have also used it for hikes in the woods. I have never had any problems with defects or adjustability and I like that the little hood/head support is already hooked on and ready to go when needed. It's just so much easier and lighter than a frame backpack but has great padding and back support.

My husband isn't too fond of wraps and ring slings (finds them too complicated for his liking), but he has commented that he feels that both he and the baby are much more comfortable than with the Bjorn.

It is very comfy. I can carry my 20lbs 8 mo DS for hours without any pain or fatigue!!

DS gets excited when he gets to go for a ride!! He loves it and has no problems napping on my back regardless of where we are (something he refuses to do in a stroller!!)

My husband finds the Ergo very comfortable as well! In fact, we fight over who is going to get to wear DS!! ;)

A must have for any Mom who likes to be out and about either in the mall or in the wilderness!!

This is the most brilliant carrier ever! I REALLY wish i had this a year ago. We've used snuggli's and frame carriers and this is much better than either. Its so small and light, this is great for travelling and just running errands around town. I have only had mine about a month, but already i use it every single day as it makes walking our dog so much easier when i have to take our toddler along too. It is so amazing and my daughter loves it! The weight distribution is incredible, i can wear our 25lb 18 month old for hours on my back where as in the frame carrier my shoulders were aching within 10 minutes. I feel like this carrier was made especially for me! I love it so much and would highly recommend it. It seems expensive but i can honestly say its worth the money!
